　studio J に於ける最後の展覧会として「川口奈々子個展－どこへ行くかは内緒」を、6月から開催いたします。studio J は2001年4月に大阪市西区

新町で開廊のち、2019年に北堀江に移転して現在に至ります。その間、御来

廊頂きました皆様、また刺激的な作品を紹介してくれた作家達に感謝致します。

　さて、川口奈々子の個展は今回で3度目の開催です。2005年に京都市立芸術大学大学院を卒業後、各地で個展及びグループ展を継続して発表してきました。彼女の作品には、鮮やかな色彩で彩られた女の子が登場します。しかし、時として画面から漂う不穏な空気が顔を覗かせます。甘い蜜を纏った女の子達、しかし彼女らはどこへ行ってしまうのかは誰にも明かされない。今回も川口奈々子の不思議な世界をお楽しみください。

「どこへ行くかは内緒」。それは、まだ形にならないものを追いかける感覚に似ている。手を伸ばしても触れられず、行き先もわからない。それでも、確かにそこに“何か”がある。

私にとって、描くとはその不確かなイメージをすくい上げること。意識と無意識のあわいに生まれる風景を、そっと捉えようとする行為だ。トレーシングペーパー越しに重なる線が、偶然新たな形を生み出すように、見ることと描くことの間には、固定された輪郭ではなく、たえず変化し続ける何かが漂っている。

視線と手の動きに導かれながら、イメージは形を成し、溶け合い、また変わっていく。行き先は決まらなくとも、それは確かにここにある。そして時には、行き先をはぐらかすように、私はその先を探し続けていくのだろう。

Notice of Exhibition and Gallery Closing — studio J

We are pleased to announce the final exhibition at studio J:
“Nanako Kawaguchi Solo Exhibition — Where I’m going is a secret .” opening this June.

studio J first opened in April 2001 in Shimmachi, Nishi-ku, Osaka, and relocated to Kitahorie in 2019, where it has operated to this day. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has visited us over the years, as well as to the artists who have introduced us to so many stimulating works.

This marks Nanako Kawaguchi’s third solo exhibition with us. Since graduating from Kyoto City University of Arts in 2005, she has continued to present solo and group exhibitions in various locations. Her works often feature vividly colored girls, yet at times, an unsettling atmosphere quietly emerges from the canvas. The girls, cloaked in sweet allure, conceal their destination from all. We invite you once again to experience the mysterious world of Nanako Kawaguchi.

Artist’s Statement

“Where I’m going is a secret .”
That phrase feels akin to the sensation of chasing something still formless. You reach out your hand but cannot touch it, and you don’t know where it’s headed. Even so, there’s undeniably something there.

For me, painting is the act of scooping up that uncertain image — an attempt to quietly capture the landscapes born in the space between consciousness and the unconscious. Just as overlapping lines on tracing paper can serendipitously give rise to new shapes, between seeing and drawing floats something that is not a fixed outline, but a constantly shifting presence.

Guided by my gaze and the movement of my hand, the image takes form, blends, and transforms again. Even if its destination is undetermined, it certainly exists here. And at times, as if to playfully evade its destination, I will likely continue to search beyond it.
