「J FRAME OF MIND」6月5日（水）～15日（土）

studio J　展覧会のお知らせ

studio Jにおける6月の展覧会として「J FRAME OF MIND」のタイトルの元、
阿波野由起夫、碓井ゆい、宮田彩加三人展を開催します。
タイトルにある「frame of mind」は、二つの意味を内包する言葉です。
perspective（遠近法、眺望）を表すと同時に、この中の「frame」は額縁をも
意味します。今回取り上げる3名の作家の作風はそれぞれ違いますが、タイト
ルには、studio Jとしての作品の捉え方を表すと言う意味が込められています
。
阿波野由起夫の最近の作風は、植物シリーズとトライバルの女性像シリーズが
中心です。いずれも彼の創造した植物や、実際には存在しない部族の女性を描
いています。今回は、「日本水墨画大賞展2018」での準大賞作品「森渡り」を
ジクレーで再現した作品を展示します。
碓井ゆいは、布を素材とした作品で昨年度のVOCA賞を受賞しました。京都市
立芸術大学大学院在籍中よりstudio Jで継続的に発表を行っており、今に至る
過程の中で制作していたドローイングやコラージュを中心に展示致します。
宮田彩加は2017年「京都府新鋭選抜展」優秀賞受賞、2017年には広島市現代
美術館でもグループ展を行うなど精力的に活動しています。ミシンを使用し、
糸や布で作品を展開しています。今回は関西では初めて発表する作品を含めて
の展示となります。何卒ご高覧宜しくお願い致します。
*ご案内のハガキには、ペンローズの三角形が描かれています。3本の四角柱は3
名の作家を表し、それぞれが組み合わされていながら全体で三角形を形成して
います。この三角形は額縁（展覧会）を象徴しています。二次元の平面では目
に見えるもの（作品）を表し、三次元では成立しない三角形は目に見えないも
の、すなわち思想と展望を表しています。

studio J Exhibition Notice

studio J is proud to announce the next exhibition taking place in June “J FRAME OF MIND” featuring artists Yukio Awano, Yui Usui and Sayaka Miyata. The title “frame of mind” is of a double meaning. One meaning ‘perspective’ while the other pointing to the literal meaning of ‘frame’ as in the ‘picture frame’ in which case ‘the mind’ implies to ‘the perception’ of studio J. The styles of the three artists differ greatly from one another. However, they all represent the perspective of studio J.

Awano Yukio’s recent artistic style is centered on the botanical series and the Tribal women’s figure series. In both series he is depicting unique botanicals and tribal women created under his imagination. In this exhibition, we will display a reproduction of his Silver medal award winning work “Moriwatari” at the “Japanese Ink Painting Grand Prix Exhibition 2018” in giclee print.

Yui Usui won the VOCA award last year for her works using cloth. Since her enrollment at Kyoto City University of Arts Graduate School, she has been continuously presenting her works at studio J. Her drawings and collages that display her process of artistry up until now will be featured in this exhibition.

Sayaka Miyata is an extremely active artist, receiving first prize in the “Kyoto Art for Tomorrow Exhibition 2017” and holding a group exhibition at the Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art in 2017. She uses sewing machines to develop artworks with cloth and thread. This exhibition will include her works that will be presented for the first time in Kansai.

* The invitation postcard for this exhibition is of a Penrose triangle. The three square columns which represent the three artists are connected with right angles to form a triangle. This triangle symbolizes the frame, the exhibition itself. It is made of a two-dimensional plane that portrays the visible objects in the frame hence the artworks itself. The three-dimensional form portraying the impossible triangle refers to the invisible objects which represents the thoughts and perceptions of art.
